City, NCC headed back to OMB to settle Moffatt Farm dispute: Official can't mediate between mayor, Beaudry

An Ontario Municipal Board mediator says he doesn't have the authority to mediate between Mayor Bob Chiarelli and National Capital Commission chairman Marcel Beaudry.

The mediator, OMB member Richard Makuch, spent Wednesday and most of yesterday trying to get Mr. Chiarelli and Mr. Beaudry to the table, in an attempt to settle a fight between the city and the commission over developing Moffatt Farm.

...

Ms. Cools said that's a sign the OMB shouldn't be involved. "What we have here is a dispute between a commission representing Her Majesty's Crown, and Her Majesty's subjects," she said. "Could anyone mediate between them?"

Ms. Cools is pressing for a parliamentary examination of whether the NCC sells land because it's underfunded.
