FEDS TAKE AIM AT NCC
The Senate finance committee yesterday tabled recommendations that would change the way the National Capital Commission operates.
The NCC's operations have seized the interest of the Senate in recent weeks at the urging of Sen. Anne Cools. She lives near Moffat Farm, a wooded, riverside area the NCC wants to sell to a residential developer. She has joined other residents in trying to maintain this area as open space.
Other recommendations include requiring the NCC to have a "meaningful public consultation process" whenever it plans to dispose of property or change its uses.
