Poets should aid O Canada: Dispute over words of anthem shows us as a land of sore losers
There are no logical arguments against changing the lyrics to our national anthem so that women are included -- no dire economic, military or social repercussions -- so defenders of the status quo resort to ridicule.
How trivial, they say, to fret about a marginal issue like song lyrics, although, apparently, it isn't trivial to spend effort and time arguing against the proposed editing change to O Canada, a change that would replace "in all our sons command" with "in all of us command." (The ever-aggrieved Liberal Senator Anne Cools is preparing the charge.)
