Senate poised for a battle over Prime Minister's ethics bill (The Hill Times)

Liberal Sen. Anne Cools (Toronto-York, Ontario), also among the 21 Senators, said that she too doesn't plan to back down. She added that she has found a number of substantive and procedural problems with the legislation and expects to find herself at odds with her own government once again.

"I'm going to have a very hard time obviously. I didn't support the bill," she said.

"There are a host of Parliamentary and procedural concerns. And I want to be satisfied they are followed. The phenomenon of creating commissioners who have powers to look over Senators' shoulders on any issue is unprecedented as a Parliamentary devise."
